The American European Solidarity Council and the United Ukrainian American Organizations of New York UCCA Branch Cordially invite the community to meet with Mamuka Mamulashvili Leader of the Georgian volunteer military legion in Ukraine fighting for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity The Russian-Georgian war in 1992-1993, the Abkhazian Conflict, was the hardest and the bloodiest time in the history of modern Georgia. Mamuka was only 14 years old when he ran away from home to his father, General Zurab Mamulashvili , the commander of one of the Georgian troops in the war. He fought hard on his father's side for Georgia’s independence and territorial integrity. Although he lived through the terrible trauma of being a prisoner of war for several months, Mamuka was able to return to normal life and received a higher education in Georgia and France. He is a very versatile man, an economist, as well as an expert in international law and conflict; he is also highly praised for his achievements in sports and visual arts. After the so-called "five-day war" in 2008, Mamuka founded a non-governmental organization to assist the families of veterans. With the worsening of the conflict in Ukraine Mamuka decided to join our Ukrainian brothers. Today many Georgian young men are fighting for our common goal - Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity. A few days ago Mamuka lost another comrade, the commander of the 11th Battalion of the Territorial Defense of Kyiv, Alexander Gomenyuk. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Georgia! Location: UCCA National Office 203 Second Ave, 2nd floor, between 12-13 Streets, NYC Date & Time: Thursday, August 20 at 6:30PM
